Flew overhead along beach. Then perched in tree. Minutes later made a few calls, then flew back toward the beach. As far as I could tell it was alone
Three birds, flew in together. They then flew to a tree just above me for a closer look, and stayed about 5mins before flying away together
A pair foraging on lawn after dark close by for over 30mins
Numerous males & females seen in surrounding trees
Small grassy clearing on Scout Camp property where we had set up camp. Area surrounded by bushland. Had been plenty of rain in preceding days/weeks. Was able to capture alive and donate to Australian Reptile Park for antivenom program.
Long back feet, with which it seemed to run with more of a hopping scurry than typical mouse running scurry
Often seen near here. Junction of Mangrove & Popran Creeks
Only a brief encounter near dusk. Certainly a small kingfisher bird. Couldn't see well enough for a positive species ID - most resembling Forest Kingfisher, although could be a Sacred Kingfisher
Soaring over lake shoreline on a clear sky day
A flock of around 10 seen together here on this occasion
Date/time of observation not accurate - observation added retrospectively
Observed swimming and foraging in the shallows here for about 5mins
Soaring low above suburban treetops, grassy reserves and houses foraging for food. Circled around and explored the area around me for a few minutes before moving out of sight
Perched on a bare branch overlooking coastal saltwater lake
A pair of Macaws in pristine woodland forest near a major mangrove river system, sandstone ridgelines and a grassy valley
Plenty of these seen in this nature reserve today. Early September - abundance of wildflowers beginning to bloom.
Didn't seem common here today - although I'm not regular here I only saw this one in the whole two hours I was in the nature reserve. It seemed as curious about me as I was with it. A beautiful bird!!
Foraging at dusk. Relaxed. Swam along surface about 10 seconds before diving.
