4m tall tree among regenerating ngaio in shade of mature macrocarpas.
Leaves mid green, up to 12cm long and 5cm wide, undersurface white.
Very small sharp teeth on leaf margins.

Defying its threat status. Growing in rough pasture. North facing.
This spreads very easily, apparently along the ground just below the surface. It has never flowered. Doesn’t look like mahoe to me but I’m happy to be corrected. My main concern is its very rapid spread this year, after many years of growing slowly.
Under coastal ngaio scrub. I presume one of the exotics.

I assume this is rotundifolia but it has a very dense and upright habit.
One plant not grazed. The other plants grazed. In turf on the edge of exposed bedrock in a regenerating bush remnant.
Can anyone confirm or deny that this is Moa bones ? found in swampy area 1m under the topsoil , if not moa what is this ?
