Gilia cf. lavocinta flavocincta; the long, narrow corolla tube with a hint of yellow suggests this species, though the small, light-colored corolla lobes and substantial glandular-stipitate hairs show some affinity with G. stellata.
This is a Pyramid Lake strain Lahontan cutthroat trout. This strain was thought to be extinct when dams and water diversions blocked their spawning areas. The strain was rediscovered when Nevada Department of Wildlife was surveying streams in eastern Nevada where they weren’t expected to be. Apparently someone stocked these fish in the stream at some point before they disappeared from Pyramid Lake and the Truckee River. The fish have been reestablished and are now caught regularly by anglers. Historically, these cutthroat reached enormous sizes. The world record is 42lbs and there were rumors of 100lb fish when there was a commercial fishery.
More creatures from the proposed MAGLEV 200 acre train yard proposed to be located on federal (NPS, USFWS, USDA, DOD) lands in Maryland. Got allergies? Here is your friend. Zygogramma suturalis or Calligrapha bidenticola
, both of which munch ragweed and look almost identical. Lovely Chrysomelid Beetle, but I can't tell them apart. Photo by Cole Cheng. ~~~~~~~~~~{{{{{{0}}}}}}~~~~~~~~~~

We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.

MAGLEV impact site, this is something that takes plant carbon and converts it to bird food. Orthopterans are famous for this and drive many ecosystems sometimes to outbreak levels, sometimes like this little Tettrigid (am basing this ID on my college taxonomy courses). Sadly this (and several 10s of other orthopterans of the area could be gone if the MAGLEV Train and train yard as sited on this public land. Picture by Cole Cheng. ~~~~~~~~~~{{{{{{0}}}}}}~~~~~~~~~~

Poor little guy was found dead. Mostly grey, tinted yellow in parts. Very small.
