The Plant Family

As I did my nature walk around the school, I find that it was hard to find a plant from the Polypodiopsida. There were many bryophyte plants, gymnosperms, and angiosperms around the campus. The temperature this morning was 57F. It was a little chilly but not too cold for me to walk in my PJ. Out of all of these observations, I find how the pine tree seeds are arranged to be fascinating. I usually never notice the speeds near the top nor the different features of the pine tree's sperm and eggs. Today, I was able to see that in my nature walk.

Around Newton Campus Side Walk

I work up at 6:50 am to complete my nature walk assignment. The temperature was 50 F which I consider cold as a student that came from Georgia. I walked outside of the Newton Campus of Boston and the first thing I saw was a seminary on the other side of the road. That was shocking because I have never seen that and the bus that I take every day doesn't usually take that route. I try looking for fungi around the trees but there was rarely any. The young tree and most mature trees that I saw do not have any fungi growing around them. I was able to find some mushrooms on trees that were cut down. They show some sign of decaying since their pith and ray were soft. Anyway, the grass was wet since the sun have not evaporated the water from the grass yet, so I got my socks wet which is the most uncomfortable feeling I felt at BC so far.

Boston College's Weeds

As I was rushing to my classes as always, I began to notice all of the different species of plants that are common near the edge of Boston College. I am assuming these plants are from the wild because they look like weeds. These plants produce very beautiful flowers as they mature, but they are not a part of the selected plants that faculties of the college take care of on the weekend to make the college presentable. I notice them growing near the sidewalk or somewhere near the edge as I was exiting the campus. I do not really see them when I walk near the center of the campus. I assume that all of these plants are independent, and they do not need the faculty to take care of them on the weekend.

An organism that has blackheads and white heads

I see this organism daily because I take the bus. This organism is right next to the bus stop on Newton Campus. From my point of view, nothing changes, or at least nothing seems to change from my naked eyes. I don't think Boston College implanted this organism on campus for decoration because it seems to be only found in this particular area on Newton Campus and on the Main campus which leads me to assume that this organism is from the wild. I find this organism interesting because of its pore. The pores on this organism look just like the blackhead and whitehead that exist on my noise. I am assuming that it has existed there for a long time because of its size. This could also mean that it has survived the unpredictable weather in Boston. On the other hand, my body becomes sensitive to the changing weather. I am used to a stable climate since I am from Georgia. I am predicting that this organism has the all allies that are suitable for the environment. It will likely still be there in the next 4 years.
