Grew up immersed in nature study from a young age due to interested and interesting parents. We shifted around the UK spending time in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. After attending Aberdeen University in Scotland I started travelling and working overseas eventually making New Zealand my home in 2000.
While ornithology has been my main focus, I was part of a community butterfly rearing project in Eastern Kenya in the late 1990's. I have recently been introduced to moths while working as Kaitiaki Ranger for the Pūkorokoro Miranda Naturalist's Trust.
